About me

My interest in photography goes back to childhood. It seems I had a camera of my own from day one as far as I can remember and taking snap shots of the things that made my minds eye curious. This carried over into early adulthood, the habit of either making sure I had a camera with me to capture what I saw and were it was. Or the evolution... intentionally going and hunting for the image with a purpose. I called it a hobby. Maybe it was more of a fulfillment of something deeper.

About 16 years of my life were spent as partner in a successful family owned screen printing, vinyl graphics and embroidering company. I was the print technician as well as in house graphics artist, layout and separations specialist. I have worked with many, many types of artwork and images. As well as subcontracted out to other companies involved in signage, print and advertising outside of my company as well.

A few years back we decided to sell the business. I Decided to stay in imaging and advertising but on a different platform. So I set my sights on photography as something other than just a hobby. I got serious about it. Started collecting a library, adding to my equipment, and taking classes. Ultimately taking better photos and creating an ever growing skill set in something I have a passion for so that I can provide a quality product for my clients.

Formal Education:
Great Basin College ( Link )
U.S. Screen printing institute ( Link )
Prairie View School of Photography ( Link )

Professional experience in print and add work, almost 20 years in total
Professional experience in photography, 8 in relation to shots taken for end print production and 3 in relation to serious photography purely.

I also make a habit of reading on a weekly basis - books, web articles and magazines as time permits as well as continuing any formal education when I can.

I do understand that knowledge applied to real life work is the best educator and I do this on a daily basis in everything I do. We can never stop learning.

I also understand and believe that simplicity in architecture while maintaining perfective function is the key.
In everything but especially in photography.

Thank you for taking a bit of time to know something about me.

Regards,
Ray O.
